i have the same amp, makes a good metal sound
By: TTRocka. on 26 Dec 08, 15:24:12
Try putting it on the Metal and turn the gain all the way up. Bass also all the way up, middle all the way down(or maybe just a littlebit of it) and treble at about 11 o`clock. That`s my settings for all the metal and rock stuff. It`s pretty heavy settings but I think it might work for Basket case.

I think it's nice review, but you forgot to show some things... for example: differences between normal sound and "power squizzer" mode, some equiliser variations, and so... Generaly, very good clip! Keep on rockin'

whats ur guitar and pickups?
By: kjaem24. on 09 Dec 08, 16:52:23
Yes, the distortion is definitely a strong point of this amp.
By: lfctid95. on 08 Dec 08, 19:53:23
is the distortion good on it?
By: kjaem24. on 08 Dec 08, 17:52:16
For hard rock I usually play on the metal setting with the gain turned down to around 11 oclock. A bit of delay helps a lot as well.
By: H2oW. on 05 Dec 08, 22:13:53
i bought it this summer :) what's a good configuration for hard rock?
By: lXlRIVERlXl. on 05 Dec 08, 19:47:20
Okay thanks! Whicyh distortion setting is it? Metal, Metal stack brit combo? Or do you save the sttings for each channel?
By: kjaem24. on 05 Dec 08, 17:07:27
Yes, you can use a footswitch to switch between the clean and distortion channel.
By: lXlRIVERlXl. on 04 Dec 08, 20:08:53
does it have different channels, like could I use a channel switcher
By: kjaem24. on 03 Dec 08, 07:19:57
No problem Muddydog10! Thanks for watching and enjoy your amp.

Thanks for all of your help and posting such a through review. I ordered the 20x :). Roland needs to get you on their payroll.

I haven't tried the Peavey Vypyr but have played on the Valvetronix (which I found nice but not as good as the quality of the Roland). The acoustic channel, to be honest, sound less like an acoustic and more like a second clean channel. Still, nice tone and adds versatility. My personal opinion is that the amp can do most tunes pretty well if you tweak the EQ and settings enough. Very versatile.
