my opinions on this and the comments below remember there opinions for the church, it would definitly be easier with the polygonal lasso tool, and i prefer using magnetic lasso, in combination with the pen tool and masking

I like using the pen tool for the accuracy but I suppose this works too since ps got so many different ways of doing things... that's the beauty, whatever suits you :)

this filter is the best for difficult selections like hair and it can be good for really intense objects. i do like the pen tool better but when doing something like hair its a lot easier to whip up the extract filter.
