behold science puts us back to the very place it strove to over come, the eternity of the observer, or just spirituality whatevr suits you
By: phobosx12. on 06 Jan 09, 04:52:11
"why would somebody believe that?" r u baiting me sir? well it seems that awareness, aka the observer is a quintessential part of reality, you know the whole subject object thing, without the observer there is no observed, seems logical yes? also without an observer reality would just be a kind of expanding super position of possibilities without anything definite ever happening,u know the whole quantum mechanics bit im sure, the lovely 'observers barrier' gives a hint of the unending mind

many of you are psychedelics who have, like McKenna, taken the trip that leads you to be pretentious, dreamy conspirists. McKenna was right about one thing, that people will see the consequences of their greedy pursuits and ruining of the world very soon. Don't cut yourselves off from the world, help.

By "the mind is eternal" I assume you don't mean the actual physical brain in your skull but rather your consciousness is somehow eternal, having no beginning or end, and exists apart from the neurons in your brain continuing on even after your dead and your brain has decayed. Personally I don't believe my consciousness existed before I was conceived, and I see no reason to believe it will continue on after I die. Why would anyone believe that?

Yes, "life after death", an oxymoron, as in how can something be dead, yet alive?
By: phobosx12. on 05 Jan 09, 20:36:48
oxymoron? well so is existence but hey we're here, yes I believe the mind is iternal

The ant that you squished on the sidewalk is dead.

"The dead only know one thing, it is better to be alive". Do you believe in an afterlife? life after death, an oxymoron? I don't.
By: phobosx12. on 05 Jan 09, 03:18:49
life, death same thing. you know life is real, your experiencing it, whos to say once your body gives out itll be much different

I could lecture about my own personal "spiritual" psychedelic experience, but that would just make me a pretentious full-of-shit dork like Terrence McKenna. Find your own way!

I've done the LSD and psilocybin trip while smoking dank and inhaling N2O, etc., and Ive felt the whole "one with the universe" thing, but it only showed me what was already there that my senses didn't pick up on naturally. It's not supernatural, it's natural.

Oh right ok, cool, do you not think your usage of psychedelics has developed your sense of self or your perspective on life in any way? I think it did for me.
By: phobosx12. on 04 Jan 09, 19:24:43
well these drugs occur naturally in plants, and SHAMANS, you know that word in your user name, use these same drugs to gain there own wisdom so i guess they have only trips too
By: TheDude0fLife. on 04 Jan 09, 18:54:42
Yes, many times.
By: TheDude0fLife. on 04 Jan 09, 18:53:44
Then there's no such thing as life.
By: phobosx12. on 04 Jan 09, 18:33:37
no such thing as death

If you've spent some time with yourself and your thoughts, actually being honest with yourself, without fear, you'll hear the truth of what Terence is saying. I am not satisfied by your or other scientists views of a psychedelic experience. I am striving to live in a way where I do not need "empirical" evidence from someone else to tell me what my reality is. Maybe try some psychedelics for yourself. Also maybe look at your idea of death, and your idea of ideas.

Call it as you see it. That's all I can say for certain, because ultimately it doesn't matter. Your personal "secrets" will die with you.
By: FuiSoyYsereUnGil. on 19 Dec 08, 03:06:14
My point being that Terrence was not over-analyzing but seeing potential.

This perception is etched permanently on my psyche. With this new found consciousness I can discard dead weight, such as little problems that cause frustration without any benefit. They could be prejudices that can cause mistrust or misunderstandings that can cause tensions and problems. Without these meaningless barriers I can move about my day with little psychological toll. If all of humanity had a reformed psyche I think we'd advance much further as a species.

Psychedelic experience gave me the feeling of unity with everything. Meaning everything that exist has life because the barriers between 'I' as alive and 'that' as inanimate are blurred. Then I can either perceive myself as an inanimate object or I can perceive everything else as being alive. So I have to choose between one of the other. I can't settle for half and half. I choose the more spiritual perception, the one that has life. With this perception life takes on a much higher meaning.
