Beautiful. For me, and I'm only talking about me, I have never taken any medicines apart from 1 flash of cortisone, but finished up in a wheel chair permanently. So I stopped this Malarky. Cortisone or not it was on my plate anyway and I've enjoyed it all surprisingly!

Hi Lauren, I've had MS since 1997.I've been on Tysabri for 1yr. While my MRIs are encouraging, over the last year, I have been getting weaker. Lately, I can't move my left leg. I also have balence and strength issues. I use a crutch to get around. At work I use a scooter. You remind me of myself when I was diagnosed. Don't be scared. Now, I'm married and I teach jr. high. Remember, we have MS,but we are so much more than that!

Hello! I started on Copaxone and took it for one year. It actually didn't help me personally, but I know several people that are seeing wonderful results from it. It is an injection once every day. I'm sure you're neuro will know which drug you should start with, and if you have to change medications it is very normal. I've been on 3 different drugs and Tysabri is the best for me. Hi Lauren My neuro is 98% positive that I have MS based on my brain, neck, and spinal cord MRI scans. I'm having a spinal tap to confirm for sure in a couple of weeks. He hasn't mentioned Tysabri to me at all, but mentioned interferon shots and Copaxone. Can you give me any feedback on Copaxone?

Hello! I would suggest talking to the chapter of the MS Society closest to you. They are very helpful with everything. If nothing else, they can give you suggestions as to how to get help from the government. Most people I know who don't have insurance get SSD - social securing disability, a monthly check that can help pay for your medical expenses. I hope this helps!!

Why do they treat the symptoms and not the causes of MS? I read an article that links autoimmune deceases to the toxins we are exposed to everyday. For example washing powder has formaldehyde which is used to preserve corpses. Not to mention that you have to use an astronaut suit to clean the bathroom with some tub cleaning products. The EPA is accomplice the FDA is accomplice money is what dictates what is allow for consumption.

I have to agree, Tysabri is the least painful and best MS Medication i had thus far, but as a warning: Whatever you do, do not, DO NOT mix Tysabri and Interferon (Avonex, etc), for this could cause severe allergic reaciton, but those who have MS and know their stuff, know it obviously, it worked for me and quite well, NO side effects (Expect single infection), but nothing else. Infusion is once per month, unlike weekly injections. The best part is: it helped me to think clearly, no slowdowns etc

thanks for kind words about my shingles. You answered back on 3 weeks shingles YOUR skin looks healed. Am at day 10 with shingles trying to be up and around keep blood flow. nerves in hands ok so far am a professional musician. Chronic low back pain for years dragged me down also flu twice since Feb. Valtrex 1 gram 3x per day must have helped w/shingles. Wear 2 shirts to leave house protect those who haven't had chicken pox. Glad infusions going well. glad you got rid of shingles take care

Mr Beachy - you inspire me, you give me hope - i am due my 3rd tysabri infusion in a fortnight - i too suffer right drop foot which makes walking a near impossibilty - i use crutches all the time. i realise everyone responds different but if i get 50% of your benefits then i'll be happy. thanks david

Hi Vern, It's good to see that the gait problems weren't caused by something more significant than stress (although stress can sometimes be MAJOR and I know what you mean). It must be the month for MRI's...a friend of mine who has MS and myself both had MRI's this week. Mine was yesterday, it's been 4 yrs. since my last, which came out clean as a whistle. I forgot how hard it is to lay there for 5 hours and listen to Classic Rock. My hips punished me last night for it, they hate hard surfaces! Hope yours turn out good, will look for update. btw~ I've had those L'Hermitte's sign "shocks" for yrs now, they make riding my stationary recumbant bike VERY miserable.

You look good and your spirits seem great. I'll keep you in my thoughts and thank you for sharing your experiences. By the way, my name is Andy, I'm 34 and was diagnosed 8/2008. I ended up in the hospital for a week. Thought I was dying. I'm on Copaxone and I just started taking Lipitor today. Look into taking a statin with the tysabri. It's appears to work really well when combined with the interferons and Copaxone.

I went to an estate workshop put on by the Lone Star MS chapter and there were very few people in chairs. Because of Tysabri I was able to WALK in and around for a long time. Eventually got my chair out because the bath room was so far away and I am still not used to walking so far. It is more the neuropathy that get me than the MS. Love your updates. Marilyn

However, my wife told me that a woman said to her one time that she "knew my husband had MS because he was happy all the time." Hi vern! I was curious if you have ever heard of the word "ebullience", it means overly excitable,and sometimes inappropiate in behavior. I have a good friend who is a pharmacist, and whose husband is a rehab Doctor. My friend told me that because of my behavior, that her husband noticed that I was showing 'ebullience' due to MS. I've noticed an other woman behaving this way at the place I get my Tysabri Treatments. Thanks, Elise

Hi Angie; My 3rd Tysabri infusion was pivotal, but that may not be the case for everyone. No, I haven't experienced spasticity since starting Tysabri. Hi Vern, Great video updates! Question for you, I just watched your brain fuzz video. I am getting my third Tysabri infusion next Friday. It is going well especially for the first three weeks. Hi KC! Good to hear from you again. At the Des Moines Ruan MS center there are about 40 other people getting monthly Tysabri infusions. Some are doing very well and all report that Tysabri makes them feel better. I feel better because I can walk, but the buzzing and burning and the fatigue is still pretty bad.

Oh Vern, How wonderfully you are doing! I go for my 23rd Tysabri infusion next Wednesday... I can hardly wait! Even though I'm still in a wheelchair, Tysabri has kept my MS stable (remember, I have had MS for 32+ years, so my damage is probably permanent). hey vern, my name is elise and i started tysabri 6 months ago. ive been watching all you videos for about a year now. they inspired me to not be afraid to start using tysabri myself. i feel a major difference since ive switched over from betaseron. i can now jog and i no longer have to look to my family for support when doing everyday activities. Vern, I feel I know you very well by watching all your videos on tysabri. I have had MS for twenty two years. I'm still walking, just a little slower because of my right leg. I wanted to know that when you started tysabri was your MS relapsing/remitting? I turned secondary-progressive four years ago. I'm still doing well. My doctor says tysabri is my next step. Hi Vern! You look & sound great. You've answered questions about you liver & PML concerns by stating that TYSABRI has gotten you out of the wheelchair. Which is terrific. You've talked about how shingles made the left side of your face numb. I've heard stories from others on TYSABRI that their VISION really improved OR that their "brain fog" disappeared. Hi Lauren, welcome aboard the Tysabri express. I was lucky enough to be one of the 1100 guinea pigs.. err Beta testers of Tysabri starting March 2002, and am still going strong. My only relapses in all those years have been when Off Tysabri {when it was pulled from market for the PML cases} and was also one of those who fought for its return. Every person is different and has different kinds of pain. I would talk to your neurologist and determine the best solution for you. Some people take Motrin, Tylenol...etc. When you start medication there is a very good chance that the pain will get better. I have the most pain when I am stressed or depressed, so I think that it might take you some time to figure out what works best, but I promise - you WILL be fine!

I do have a few questions. How do you deal with the pain, after you've done every thing you can think to get rid of it? Do I use heat or ice? And the other thing is, will the muscle spasms (mispelled) get less once I start a treatment. The pain in my neck and the muscle spasms keep me up most of the night.

I have just been diagnosed with MS. It was a shock to get the news, but it explains all the health problems I have been having. Hi! Yes I'm doing very well...thank you! No, these 2 people were not taking other MS drugs but they didn't do anything about new symptoms occuring. They were both from remote areas where the Touch program is not available. Tysabri is nothing to be afraid of. It has made ground breaking improvements for so many people!!

Hello,i will be having my 8th infusion of tysabi next week and i am looking forward to it. This time last year i was hospitalised with my second relapse of ms. I spent four months in hospital having lost all my mobility and independance when eventually i was offered tysabri. A week after my first infusion i left hospital in a wheelchair and began my recovery. I went from my chair to a frame then eventually to a stick, and today i left the house without it for the first time. It's good that stuff

Pay attention to everything and if you start noticing anything different in your body, tell your neurologist right away. hi laurenvparrott thanks but it was for the best , the doctor cut dad off from everything because it was getting too rough and hard on him but like you he was very positive and very happy always joking around ... it was fast, I saw him on the way out to my honeymoon came back 3 weeks later and he couldn't even talk .He lived for 11 years from diagnosis but he had MS for a very long time .I'm glad there are better treatments nowadays . Yes, I know about what happened. However, they didn't report their new symptoms for weeks and didn't get treated right away. I've talked to me neurologist and I feel confident in taking Tysabri. Thank you for telling me!

Hello! Gosh, it's hard to answer that because medication works differently for everyone. I've never been on Rebif but I know people who are taking it and are doing well. I've been on Tysabri for 9 months now and I'm feeling amazing. I know doctors have their favorites, but I'm sure your neurologist will recommend the best medication for you. I love Tysabri, so I'm a little biased!! Good luck and keep me posted!

Hi Lauren, I found out in september 12th 2007 that i have MS, after 5 year of going to the dr and being told it was all in my head i was glad but upset that it was finally shown not to be in 'my head'. There's a lot of misinformation out there about Tysabri, much of it spread by competing drug companies with less effective products. Your message will help some of them decide to try Tysabri.

Vern, I was diagnosed 8/2008 and I'm taking Copaxone. I'm 34 and once I was out of the hospital I was just about all normal in 10 days. I Have lesions all over my brain and spine.
