You can easily tell by his eyes and mannerisms that Steve sang from the heart. He not only had the voice and mastered the craft but conveyed the art of feeling. His voice may not be the same now but it is always priceless.

I love Steve Martin, but I'm sorry he is the most over-rated comedian of all time. this is his signature bit, and it aint that funny. I know, I know, its blasphemy, but someone had to say it. I consider myself a comedy fan and I love all stuff new and old, as long as its good. I can remember going to a Steve Martin live performance in 1979 and the King Tut bit was part of his act that night... his entire act that night was Steve at his zaniest best, the entire audience was loving him, and when he did the King Tut bit exactly as in the video (don't know where this was filmed, could have been the one I was at), all the audience was dancing the King Tut dance with him as he did it. Good Lord....what is all this Tarabithia chatter. The reason the song was used in Tarabithia was because the people who made the movie liked the Steve Earle song. To compare the two seems silly. It was refreshing when I watched the movie to hear the song.....but how can you say it "was better in Tarqabithia". Steve was the guy who wrote the song! How can a room fullof kids in a movie be compared to the original performance of the artist?!?!?! Gawd.

All vai is doing is making racket and throwing 15 notes into a single frame. Atleast zappa has some amazing technicality and melody to his style. His guitar actually accents the music unlike the noise that vai manages to ruin it with.
