I've seen interviews with Trent Reznor, and he said that he was honored by Johnny Cash doing a cover of this song, and that seeing the video nearly brought him to tears, and he spoke about Cash had made the song his own, and how beautiful it was

I just like this version better in general. But yeah, I do. Though I like Nine inch Nails one too. Thought it was a bit ironic Cash is doing the cover of it, usually you would think it would be the other way around.

don't get me wrong, I love NIN, but I believe that the song has more meaning when sung by johnny cash, especially when you think about what this song is about and consider how old he was when he decided to cover it. Also his life was pretty screwed up and he did a lot of shit that he always said he always regretted. With that being said, I think that both versions are amazing.

Not that this version sucks or anything like that. But, in all respect, I think Trent Reznor, and Nine Inch Nails as a whole, suits this song far better. And nothing against Cash, but I think he covers songs that are....really unsuiting.
