I just noticed two things. First, the 14 years between 49 and 63 get 2:45 of coverage in the song, and the 26 years between 63 and 89 are all covered in the next thirty seconds. Boomers do centralize their own childhood. Second, as the song goes on, more of the events mentioned are political (and depressing) as opposed to pop-cultural (and lighthearted). Its as if the veneer of swellness is being constantly stripped away by the inexorable fact of maturity.

This is a wonderful, beautiful song. But if i'd heard this version before I knew the song in its original version, I would dislike it. If you want to say that by "who" LC is refering to death, than I suppose that "who by fire" should be read as a truncated version of "Who kills by fire". Add the word "kills" between every "who" and every "by" in the list. Does that work for you? "Who" is calling? Not necessarily the same "who" as in the other lines of the song.

In the prayer in question, the 'Who' is, in fact he who is about to experience a certain fate (including as I am sure you know those who aren't going to die). However, in the L.C. song that we were discussing, Cohen turns it around a bit, making the Who, death 'And who shall I say is calling?' UT to Kansas? Stretching it abit there. Nothing last forever is universal. Then again I had a well meaning Charedim explain to me that all of western music was in fact, stolen from the gemarah

Sorry Marcos, but you are a little inaccurate. The prayer (Unetaneh Tokef) is said on both days of Rosh HaShanah (the Jewish New Year)as well as on Yom Kippur. The "Who" in question is not "death" but rather people destined to die. By the way, a later section of that prayer sounds as if it could have inspired "Dust in the Wind".

The studio part is actually just the finishing touches, which is what most bands do, except that dragonforce records each other separetly, because it's simply impossible to get your own band to do it all as one even when practicing together. Which explains why they used to be not as good live, which they're not so bad at. So technically why don't you call all bands 'studioforce', even though most bands don't record seperately like they do, cuz what they do requires xtra skill.

And they're not really dealing weapons in Africa, what happens is we try to help the rebels throw over the horrible dictatorship's. the rulers of the areas steal supplies from dying locals and that is where a common thought of "weapon smuggling" may come in. We drop food, and water, and supplies for locals and the Rulers end up taking all of it.
