If you would ever be fortunate enough to move from New Jersey to North Carolina, you'd feel the humiliation and the rise above it as I have. I learned Dixie originated with the Ten dollar notes issued by 'French' Louisiana Banks, the writing DIX (for 10) was found on the back of these notes and were known as 'Dixies' by English speaking American southerners. The area around New Orleans & Cajun speaking areas of Louisiana came to be known as Dixieland.

I've really grown to love this song, but I'd like it better if Robbie were a little more subdued. He's a bit too "Look at how 'into it' I am! See my facial expressions? I am too cool for the room!" He should take a tip from Garth. The man blows a nice sax solo...without the exaggerated moves. The notes just float on top of Rick, Richard, and Levon's groove. He keeps it simple and lets the music do the talking.

Usually the brain puts things into perspective whilst we sleep so that the following day we can live again ..a little ashamed or degected or whatever it is, it never feels as bad. I think it's from the Festival Express film. This was filed in Woodstock. This version of King Harvest was is on the Remaster of the 1968 ablbum "The Band" as a bonus track. I believe this was filmed and recorded after the album.

John Hiat actually recorded this song and it is on one of his Greatest Hits albums. I know this because I had a copy of John Hiat's Greatest Hits before it was stolen from me. Mr. Hiat did a good job on it, but Jeff Healy took this song to a whole other level than what John Hiat could do. John Hiatt's Greatest Hits also had him singing Drive South, which was later done by Suzy Boggus.

I had the honor of standing right next to him when I was a bouncer at a club while he played. I had to be next to him to make sure he didn't fall off the stage or so no one came up to touch him or anything. He and his band were playing a concert across the street at Shea's concert hall and they came into the club afterwards. After a drink or two they kicked the headline band that night off stage and played for about an hour! So freak'n awesome. One of my best memories when I was a bouncer....

I remember when he was in "Road House" with Patrick Swayze when Patrick said to him "You play pretty good for a blind white guy" and Jeff replied "And I thought you'd be bigger"..he was funny and I'll miss him for sure as will the rest of his fans too! Trust me you will find Dave as one of the most beloved bands in some of the most conservative fraternity houses in The South. I agree, Fleet Foxes was given a good amount of attention over the summer, which made me avoid them but I realized that they were worth that. But Panda Bear (that's the drummer for Animal Collective's band right) anyway I found out about them in pretty early this year and know one I knew new about them. So I hope he keeps on making great music.
