In the speech bubble you say getting your hands on one was half the fun. I bought one the other day for AUD$200 without even knowing what it was. It doesn't have its original neck or pickguard, but I'm going to try to buy an original neck and swap it on. I am getting a custom pickup made at this very moment. Sadly, the coil split doesn't work. Pulling up on the volume knob causes the guitar to mute. Might get that fixed...

nice playing. that can't possibly be the stock pickup. people mod these guitars as soon as they get em. squiers have a bad rep for not staying in tune and generally being a piece of crapola. they're cheap for a reason. i play a jp6. if you don't have the $1700 for one, do what i did and knock over a liquor store.

good job man! i've been playing bass for a while, and the best advice i can give you is to keep playing along to cds & go at your own pace. don't worry about scales and theory, but don't rely on tabs, try and work out the song by yourself. good luck!

This recording is from 13 desember 1986. Stevie Ray Vaughan & Bernard Allison plays "Scuttlebuttin". The Guitar is not SRV guitar (he playd genuine fender vintage guitars). But Bernards backup guitar. I am 100% sure Stevie would not play a Chinese Squiere. This is an Early 80's Japanes squier, when squier was at it's best. It's impossible that this can be a Chinese squier, there was no Chinese squiers in the 80's. Stevie died in 1990.
